We have been using online consultations via eConsult since 2018, firstly as a pilot practice and then in 2019 we moved over to eConsult. We were planning to go live with a total triage model from April 2020, with the support of our PPG, however, we brought this forward by 2 weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
NHS England and NHS Improvement are supporting all GP Practices in England with the implementation of a ‘total triage’ model using telephone and online consultation tools. Total triage is important to reduce avoidable footfall in practices and protect patients.
Total triage means that every patient contacting the practice for a GP appointment is first triaged before making an appointment. This allows patients to submit their symptoms or requests to their GP electronically, and offers around the clock NHS self-help information, signposting to services, and a symptom checker.
By using this method of consulting, the GP will be able to triage your online consultation and offer you the most appropriate solution for your request.
All requests will be responded to within 24 hours, however if your symptoms deteriorate before then please contact the surgery. Please ONLY contact NHS 111, out of hours, when the surgery is closed.
PLEASE NOTE: This service will continue after COVID-19
